Vireak, who is 37 years old, is a rice farmer. He lives with his wife and two sons in Ratanakiri province in Cambodia. When he isn’t working, Vireak likes playing volleyball.
About a month ago, Vireak was accidentally hit in his left eye while working with a wire. Afterward, he developed a cataract in his eye, which now causes him blurry vision and pain, limiting his ability to work regularly.
When Vireak learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for seven hours seeking treatment. On May 8th, doctors at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform phacoemulsification cataract surgery and implant an intraocular lens in his left eye. After he has recovered, Vireak will be able to see clearly again, which will enable him to return to his work as a rice farmer. Now, he needs your help to fund this $253 procedure.
Vireak shared: “I hope after surgery I can go back to work and I can earn money to support my family.”
