Byaruhanga is a 54-year-old man from Uganda. He is married and the father of ten children. He has three sons and seven daughters. All his children completed primary schooling, but the family lacked the resources to pay the school fees for higher education.
Since 2011, Byaruhanga has been experiencing intermittent left inguinal region swelling. Recently, this swelling has began to cause him pain, especially after working. He decided to come to our medical partner’s care center, Virika Hospital, for a checkup. While at Virika, Byaruhanga was diagnosed with a left inguinal hernia and advised to have surgery. If not treated, Byaruhanga may experience intestinal tissue damage due to hernia twisting and blocking
On July 26, surgeons at Virika Hospital will perform a hernia repair surgery on Byaruhanga. The $249 requested by our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, will cover the full cost of the procedure, including a hospital stay, doctor’s fees, supplies, labs, and medication. After surgery, Byaruhanga hopes to have peace of mind.
