Ben is a 56-year-old man from Uganda. He is a farmer who grows beans, maize, millet, cassava, groundnuts, and vegetables. During free time, Ben enjoys visiting friends and relatives, teaching his grandchildren how to dig, and listening to the radio at news and announcement time.
For the last four years, Ben has suffered from pain and difficulty urinating. However, two months ago, his symptoms began to worsen and he failed to respond to the analgesics that a doctor prescribed to him. Ben visited Bwindi Community Hospital, our medical partner’s care center, and his doctor diagnosed him with a hernia. The doctor recommended that he undergo surgery to repair his hernia.
On September 4, Ben will undergo hernia repair surgery. Our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, has requested $229 to fund Ben’s procedure. This will cover the full cost of treatment, including a five-night hospital stay, labs, medication, supplies, and physician consultation. After his treatment, Ben hopes to resume farming and to start a business to support his family. Ben is very grateful to Watsi donors for supporting his treatment.
