Chhanny is a 19-year-old construction worker from Cambodia. He lives with his parents, who are both farmers and has two brothers. In his free time he enjoys playing football with his brothers and his friends, playing classical Khmer music, and getting into the latest mobile games. Between jobs he also helps his parents with their farming.
One month ago, Chhanny was in a motor vehicle accident which caused a serious wound on his right thigh. He went to a provincial hospital for treatment, but after one procedure he could not afford to continue. The wound has not healed and is now becoming infected. Chhanny cannot walk without pain, so he is mostly confined to a wheelchair. Due to this he has had to forgo any work opportunities.
When Chhanny learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On September 1st, surgeons at CSC will perform a skin graft procedure to close and heal the wound. Now, Chhanny needs help to fund this $474 procedure.
Chhanny said, “I am so thankful that I can get this opportunity for free surgery. I hope that I can return to work and making money to help my family.”
