Thol is a 76-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She has three sons, two daughters, and seven grandchildren. She has lived with her daughter’s family since her husband passed away ten years ago. She likes to listen to monks pray on the radio.
Six years ago, Thol developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurry vision, tearing, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Thol learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for three-and-a-half hours seeking treatment. On October 5th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Thol said, “I hope this surgery will stop my blurry vision from getting worse, and will make it easier for me to do my work when I am at home.”
