Zin is a 18-year-old young man from Burma. Zin just got married and lives with his wife. He works as a construction day laborer. His wife is pregnant.
One evening in July, when Zin was riding his bicycle home from work, he lost control and fell. Three days later, he developed a fever, so he went to see a health worker in his community. There, he was given oral medication and an injection. However, Zin felt no improvement. The pain increased in his abdominal area, which prevented him from walking comfortably. He then decided to go to Mae Tao Clinic (MTC), our medical partner’s care center, where the medics did an ultrasound test. The test revealed the presence of an abscess in his abdomen.
Doctors want Zin to undergo a CT scan, a procedure in which x-ray images taken from several angles are combined to produce cross-sectional images of the body. This scan will hopefully help doctors diagnose his condition and formulate an appropriate treatment plan.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $414 to cover the cost of Zin’s CT scan and care, scheduled for August 15.
Zin says, “If I recover I will continue to work and save money to buy a house for my wife and kid.”
