Alais is a 33-year-old man from Tanzania who hopes to become a car mechanic. Unfortunately, he is unable to work on cars because of a severe burn scar contracture (tightening of the skin) which restricts the movement of his left hand.
The youngest of eight children, Alais currently lives in a hut he built near his family. He makes his living as a security guard, but dreams of finding a better job and getting married soon. However, Alais doesn’t earn enough money as a guard to cover the cost of the surgery he needs. Without it, he will eventually lose all function in his hand.
For $505, Alais will receive surgery to restore function to his hand. Let’s work together to raise the funds for Alais’ surgery to help him become a mechanic and start his life!
