Bonetas is a 22-year-old student from Uganda. He is currently preparing for his final school examinations, which will take place later this year. He has four siblings, and his parents work as small-scale farmers to support their family.
For over three years, Bonetas has had a bilateral hydrocele, or a swelling in a sensitive area. When this swelling first developed, he did not seek medical attention since it was small and painless, and he thought it was a temporary condition. However, the swelling extended to the left side after a year, so he decided to finally inform his parents.
Bonetas was taken to a hospital, where he was given medication. Unfortunately, the medication did not treat his condition. He has begun to experience pain on and off, causing him discomfort at school. If Bonetas does not receive treatment, the pain and the swelling could become worse.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF), is here to help. Bonetas is scheduled to undergo hernia repair surgery on August 16th at AMHF’s care center, Rushoroza Hospital. AMHF is requesting $170 to fund this procedure, which will allow Bonetas to live a better quality of life, free from his current discomfort.
Bonetas says, “I pray that I get well through surgery so that I may be able to live a normal life once again. I hope to be able to plan well for my forthcoming ordinal level final examinations.”
