Borey is a 36-year-old television repairman. He has been married for nine years and lives with his wife in Siem Reap province. His wife is a homemaker. When he is home, he likes to watch videos to learn new skills to do other electronics repairs.
He was born with clubfoot on his left leg. He had clubfoot treatment in 2007 with hardware placement, but still has pain around his lower leg and ankle. It has become worse in the past several years. His bones have not grown normally, and he has lost some sensation in his foot. Surgeons feel the hardware should be removed to determine if that will fix his problem.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, can help. On December 14th, Borey will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will cost $304. The pain should finally disappear and he hopes he will walk better after the surgery.
Borey said: “I am happy I can still walk, but when the hardware comes out, I hope my foot and leg will feel better and I can be more active.”
