Ethan is a charming and friendly 23-month-old baby boy. He is the only child of his father, who is single. Early in his life, Ethan was cared for by his grandmother while his parents completed their studies and afterwards, his parents went their separate ways. Ethan’s grandmother works as a small scale farmer, while his father is a construction worker with a road construction company.
Ethan has been diagnosed with bilateral Genu Varus, which means that his legs bow outward at the knees. This condition is typically caused by an excessive accumulation of fluoride in the bones, which often stems from contaminated drinking water. As a result, he experiences pain and is exhausted after even a short walk.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is helping Ethan to receive treatment. On October 7th, he will undergo corrective surgery at AMH’s care center and, now, his family needs help raising $880 to fund corrective surgery for Ethan. Treatment will help to restore Ethan’s mobility, allowing him to participate in a variety of activities and greatly decreasing his risk of future complications as he grows up.
Ethan’s grandmother shared, “I enjoyed walking with my grandson especially on Sundays as we go to church. But now he cannot walk a long distance without pain. Please help him.”
