Meet Kong a 53-year-old woman who lives in Cambodia with her husband and nine children. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC) shares, “in her free time, Kong enjoys watching comedy programs on TV.”
Unfortunately, for the past two years, it has been difficult for Kong to enjoy her programs—a hypermature cataract causes clouding and blurred vision in her left eye.
CSC explains, “Kong has a hard time doing her job in the farm and can’t go anywhere by herself. Her daughter can’t do her own work because she needs to assist her mother.”
With $150 in funding, Kong will receive surgery to remove the cloudy cataracts from her eyes, replacing her old lenses with artificial ones. Following surgery, her vision is expected to clear.
CSC tells us, “Kong looks forward to returning to work at the farm, taking care of her grandchildren, and regaining her independence.”
