Ly Donghe is a five-year-old primary school student from Cambodia. He likes reading his school books, and he has one sister. In his spare time, he likes to watch cartoons and movies on TV.
Ly Donghe was born with polydactyly of his right hand. This means he has an extra thumb on his right hand. He finds it difficult to hold objects in his right hand and also experiences discomfort.
Ly Donghe’s parents knew about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), because their neighbor had surgery at CSC before. Ly Donghe traveled for three hours with his mother to reach CSC for treatment.
On May 17, surgeons at CSC will remove the extra thumb on Ly Donghe’s right hand. Our medical partner, CSC, is requesting $296 to fund this procedure. The requested $296 pays for medications, surgical materials, five nights of hospital stay, and physiotherapy.
