Yasin is a hardworking 14-year-old who attends secondary school in Tanzania. He is the oldest in a family of six children, and his parents work extremely hard so that all of their children can attend school.
Yasin was born with a club foot, a condition where his foot is angled inward at the ankle, which causes him severe pain when walking. It is important that Yasin receives treatment soon, because without it he will likely develop osteoarthritis in his foot. Walking to school is hard enough for Yasin as it is, and osteoarthritis would make it nearly impossible.
“It is my hope that one day I will become a doctor,” Yasin says. For $500, we can fund Yasin’s corrective surgery so he can complete school and pursue his dreams.

Yasin received surgery to correct his club foot.
Yasin’s operation went smoothly and he is doing very well. His foot will be in a cast for the next few weeks while his wounds heal. Yasin feels the surgery has already had a positive outcome—he is no longer at risk of developing osteoarthritis and will soon be able to walk pain-free.
“Watsi has changed my life,” Yasin said during a follow-up appointment. “My siblings look up to me as their older brother, so when I return home with a pain free foot, I’ll have nothing to prevent me from going to school and will do my best to set a good example.”
