Barbra is a 16-year-old student from Uganda who is expecting her first child. In her free time, she enjoys visiting her friends and grandparents, participating in drama plays, and studying science.
Because of Barbra’s age, doctors consider her pregnancy to be high-risk. They recommend that she receive medical attention before, during, and after labor to ensure a safe delivery. Starting August 1, she will begin to receive supplements and attend prenatal check-ups and health education classes. She will deliver her baby in the hospital, and will be monitored after her delivery to ensure that she and her baby are safe.
Although Barbra’s family is able to contribute $7 to the cost of her care, our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, is requesting $241 to fund the rest of Barbra’s pregnancy care. After a safe delivery, Barbra hopes to go back to school and continue with her studies. She wishes to be a nurse in future and help treat the malnourished children in her community.
“I thank the donors for contributing their resources towards my daughter having a safe delivery. How I wish there is such support to help many in need,” Barbra’s mother says.
