24-year-old Rebecca and her husband live in a Ugandan village about 20 kilometers from the nearest hospital. They both work as subsistence farmers who grow beans, corn, and ground nuts. In her free time, Rebecca enjoys listening to news and music on the local radio station.
Their first child, who was born through a C-section, recently started school. Now, they are expecting their second child, and doctors have recommended a second C-section to ensure a safe birth.
On October 30, Rebecca checked into the hospital to await delivery. Rebecca and her husband have contributed $8, but they need $258 to cover the remaining cost of the C-section. This cost covers all medical expenses, as well as five nights of hospital stay.
Rebecca is looking forward to returning home, raising her children, and sending them to school.
“I want to thank the donors for the help they give,” she says.
