Claudias is a 46-year-old primary school teacher from Uganda and a mother of three children. She teaches at the local school, and her husband works as a farmer. Claudias shared that their combined income is only sufficient to meet their family’s daily needs.
For three years, Claudias has been experiencing both abdominal and back pains, along with other worrisome symptoms. Upon review, she has been diagnosed with uterine fibroids. Claudias first tried to treat her symptoms with over-the-counter medication. Because her pain persisted, she became increasingly worried about her health. Doctors determined that Claudias needs to undergo a hysterectomy, which is a procedure where surgeons will remove her uterus, allowing her to finally heal. However, due to financial constraints, she cannot fund the procedure.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF), can help Claudias receive treatment. On July 12th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at AMHF’s care center. Once recovered, Claudias will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. AMHF is requesting $219 to fund this procedure.
Claudius says, “I hope to get better after surgery, and I believe that my health will return back to normal once I am operated on.”
