Meet Ashik, a six-year-old boy from Nepal. He lives with both of his parents in addition to his uncles’ families. The livelihood of this joint family is dependent on agriculture, although his uncles occasionally work as wage laborers in nearby towns.
While playing with his friends one day, Ashik tripped and fell down on his left arm. Our medical partner Possible tells us, “He developed painful swelling in his left forearm and has been unable to move his hand properly since then.”
Ashik’s mother says, “We have a large family, and we never have enough money. We have to get this treatment somehow. Either we have to sell our house or land, or we have to take short-term loans, but they charge very high interest which we cannot pay.”
Ashik can no longer play football, one of his hobbies, and has missed school since the accident. For only $205, we can ensure that this young boy is able to go back to school and study again. If left untreated, the swelling may develop into a longterm deformity and disability.
Let’s help Ashik get back to school and playing football with his friends.
