44-year-old Mbabazi is a married mother to five young children. She lives with her family in Uganda, where she grows food for home consumption.
Three years ago, Mbabazi noticed a swelling on top of her belly button. She was not too concerned as there were no painful symptoms. However, since the start of this year, Mbabazi started experiencing pain after working and eating food.
Mbabazi has been diagnosed with an epigastric hernia. On August 9, Mbabazi will undergo a $249 hernia repair surgery.
Mbabazi shares with our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, that she hopes to have a peace of mind after her surgery.

Mbabazi underwent hernia repair surgery.
Mbabazi’s hernia repair was a success. She is no longer at risk of hernia twisting and blocking. After recovery she will be able to do any work around her home.
She says, “I am all right. I am no longer feeling pain as I used to feel before surgery. After recovery I will do simple tasks around my house and continue with farming. I am very grateful and appreciative to Watsi. I have nothing to give in return. God bless you.’’
