Scholastica is a 13-year-old girl and the eldest of three children. Her parents are farmers who rely on their land to provide food for the family. She enjoys spending time with her siblings at home, helping with household chores, and playing together. Scholastica was born with clubfoot on her right foot, where her foot is twisted inward and downward. This makes it difficult for her to walk, run, play, and wear shoes. She had to stop school when she was in 5th grade as she could no longer walk comfortably. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, can help. Scholastica will start clubfoot manipulation and casting on September 13th. This will be followed by clubfoot correction surgery which will help Scholastica with her mobility and build strength. Now, Scholastica needs your help to raise $1,119 to fund her procedure and care. Scholastica’s father says: “We are happy that she has this chance to get treatment, it gives us hope that she will get better and will be able to continue with school.”

Leangheng is a 43-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He lives in Kampong Cham province with his wife and two sons, one in grade four and the other in grade five. He and his wife work long hours outside as rice farmers to support their family. In his free time, Leangheng enjoys watching boxing matches. When he was ten, Leangheng had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in both ears to perforate. For this reason, Leangheng experiences recurrent ear discharge and frequent fevers. He suffers from hearing loss and ear pain, which makes it difficult for him to understand when his family is speaking to him, and he is embarrassed when his ear discharge occurs. Leangheng traveled to our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, to receive treatment. On October 8th, he is scheduled to undergo a bilateral myringoplasty procedure in both ears. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforations. Leangheng is able to contribute $100 but needs help to raise $814 more to fund this procedure. Leangheng's wife shared, "We hope that Leangheng will no longer have problems with hearing and can work on our farm."

Frank is a small-scale farmer from Bwanda Rwego Rukungiri district in southwestern Uganda. He is married and has five children. He grows crops to feed his family. He also does causal labor work in other people’s gardens. For five years, Frank has had a right inguinal hernia. This causes him pain that worsens when coughing, laughing, and lifting heavy loads. Fortunately, on September 3rd, he will undergo surgery and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $230 to fund the procedure. Upon completion, this will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably. Frank says, “My children are still in school and I am the only hope they have to provide for the family. In such ill health, I can’t work so I am unable to provide but I believe with your support, I will undergo surgery and will get well.”
