Nataiwok was identified by community health workers during a rural outreach visit. She comes from a loving but poor family that cannot afford the specialized medical care she needs.
Nataiwok’s right arm was severely burned in a fire. The subsequent burn scar contracture left her lower arm, wrist, and hand immobile. Without treatment, Nataiwok will live with a permanent disability.
Burns are one of the most common causes of death and disability worldwide. Surgical care is extremely difficult to access in the developing world, especially without a lot of money.
For $500, African Mission Healthcare Foundation can provide Nataiwok with contracture release and skin graft surgery, cover the cost of her hospital stay, and make sure she gets the rehabilitation she needs to use her hand normally .
