Francis is a small-scale farmer. He is a married man with five children, all of whom are currently attending school. His wife, like him, is engaged in small-scale farming, yielding produce primarily for their own consumption with a limited surplus available for sale. For eight years, Francis has had a left inguinal hernia. This condition has significantly restricted his movements and has also diminished his work performance. Presently, he leads a modest lifestyle, working hard to provide school fees for his children who are attending both primary and secondary school. If left untreated, his symptoms could persist and eventually lead to strangulation, which is a serious condition that could be fatal. Francis has never sought medical treatment or assessment at a hospital before, primarily due to financial constraints. Fortunately, on August 8th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $230 to fund Francis's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Francis says, "I will be grateful when my surgery is done with your support, as I have no alternative means to pay for such surgery myself."

Jesca is a 16-year-old girl who was born with clubfoot of the right foot. At two years old, Jesca’s mother recognized the severity of her condition and took her to Nkuaranga for treatment. However, sadly her mother fell seriously ill and passed away. Left without her mother’s care and support, Jesca’s father couldn’t continue with her treatment plan. The weight of her condition and the financial burden caused Jesca to abandon her education in secondary school. Her father, a casual laborer, provides for the family by working in the fields. Fortunately, Jesca's family traveled to visit our medical partner's care center, The Plaster House NGO. There, the team will begin clubfoot treatment on September 15. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $935 to fund Jesca's clubfoot repair. After treatment, her bent right foot will straighten, and she will be able to walk comfortably. Jesca says, “It has been my wish to get treatment for my condition, I wish to be able to walk confidently without worrying how people are looking at me.”

Vin is a playful two-year-old toddler from Cambodia who lives with his parents in Phnom Penh. His mother is a homemaker, while his father earns a living loading and unloading boats on the river. When Vin was an infant, his hands were burned by a fire when his mother was cooking. His parents took him to a local hospital for care, but burn scar contractures developed, tightening the skin on his hands and fingers. It is difficult for him to use his hands to hold objects or play with his friends. Vin's parents brought him to our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, seeking help. On May 5th, surgeons at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform burn contracture release surgery. The doctors will remove the burned skin and cover the damaged area with a skin graft. This surgery will enable Vin to use his fingers easily Now, he and his family need your help to fund this $495 procedure. Vin's mother said: "We hope that the scar will release, and he will be able to move his fingers."
