Em is a 68-year-old rice farmer, living with her husband - who also farms. Together, they have two sons, three daughters, and eight grandchildren.
Three years ago, Em developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her tearing and blurry vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and she is reluctant to go places on her own because of her impaired vision.
When Em learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for four and a half hours to seek treatment. On June 13th, doctors at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform cataract surgery, and implant an intraocular lens in her right eye. After recovery, Em will be able to see clearly again, and to live her life more comfortably. Children’s Surgical Centre is seeking $253 to fund Em’s cataract surgery.
Em says: “I hope I can I easily go outside and see faces well again. I want to help my daughter take care of my grandchildren.”
