Moen, a five-year-old boy from Kenya, is the younger of two siblings. About a year ago, the children’s parents separated, leaving the family with only the income that their mother earns from a casual job in a salon.
This financial strain is not well-timed for the family, as Moen has recently developed a medical condition that requires attention. Last year, his mother noticed that she could not feel his testes while bathing him. Worried, she took him to the hospital, where an exam revealed bilateral undescended testicles, meaning his testes have not yet moved into his scrotal sac.
Moen runs a chance of developing a hernia, infertility, or even testicular cancer. His doctor has therefore recommended orchidopexy surgery to release Moen’s testicles into the scrotal sac.
Although Moen’s family cannot afford to pay for this procedure, we can help them by raising $459. This sum will provide Moen with his operation on April 11, and will also cover the associated lab tests and four-day hospital stay.
“I love my boy and would love to see him grow up normally,” shares Moen’s mother. “I want him to be able to start his own family in the future.”
With your funding, this hope will become feasible for Moen and his mother.
