Sombok is a father of eight from Cambodia. He is a rice farmer. He has three daughters, five sons, and eighteen grandchildren. He likes to listen to social programs and monks on the radio.
Five years ago, Sombok developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him blurred vision, a clouded lens, and photophobia. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Sombok learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for one and a half hours seeking treatment. On April 24, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
He says, “I hope my eye surgery is successful so that I can see everything clearly. I want to help my wife to do some work at home and take care my grandchildren.”
