Sok Kheang is a single mother of three children. She works hard every day to support her family by selling vegetables and fish in a local market, but an accident is making it difficult for her to make ends meet.
Last year, Sok Kheang fell and dislocated her elbow. Elbow dislocations are relatively uncommon. They typically occur when a person falls onto their outstretched hand, causing the force to be sent sharply up to the elbow and rotating it out of its socket. As a result of her injury, Sok Kheang is in constant pain. She is unable to keep up with every day tasks, such as work and washing clothes, but because she spends all the money she has on her children, she hasn’t been able to seek medical care for herself.
Surgeons at Children’s Surgical Centre can perform an open reduction surgery to repair Sok Kheang’s elbow. They tell us that with treatment, Sok Kheang will regain the ability to use her arm and support her family. We hope to raise the $350 it will take to completely cover the cost of Sok Kheang’s care, so she can keep being a great mom to her kids.
