Win is an 18-year-old who lives in Burma with his family. While he was formerly a student, Win had to leave school in the seventh grade due to his medical condition. Although he currently works in a shop that sells snacks, the intensification of his condition has made it increasingly difficult for Win to work and assist his family financially.
Seven years ago, Win was diagnosed with mitral valve insufficiency, a type of heart disease in which the mitral valve does not close properly, allowing blood to flow backwards into the heart. Inefficient circulation of blood throughout the body in turn causes extreme fatigue and shortness of breath.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to help pay for Win’s mitral valve replacement surgery, which is scheduled for June 11.
“I dream of a future where I can work and provide for my family and pay back my mother’s debts. I will continue to study to be a mechanic as I want to be an auto mechanic or hired driver,” says Win.
