George is a 49-year-old senior teacher at a school in Kihihi, a small town located near the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in southwestern Uganda. George teaches religious education, English, and the sciences. With his wife Annette, George has two children, one who has almost finished university, and the other who is in secondary school.
For much of the past year, George has had an inguinal hernia (hernia of the groin) that has recently become increasingly painful. It has become so painful that he finds it difficult to sit or to stand for long periods. As a result of his condition, George also has trouble urinating.
George is scheduled for surgery on May 5. Our medical partner, The Kellerman Foundation, is requesting $229 to fund this care.
Before the pain of the hernia become so great that he had difficulty concentrating, George was an avid reader. He especially loved reading novels about family life. In addition, George and Annette tended to their gardens and fields, where they grew crops for their family. After his surgery, he is most looking forward to being able to work in his gardens and to ride a motorcycle, which is currently too painful.
“I would like to send my sincere appreciation to all the donors,” says George. “I am very grateful for this help. Please say thank you very much to the donors.”
