Immaculate is a friendly and outgoing small-scale farmer from Uganda. She is a single mother to three daughters. Immaculate and her husband separated, and she and her daughters live with Immaculate's parents. Her daughters are all studying in school. Immaculate shared that she completed her senior class four before leaving due to a lack of school fees. Now, Immaculate practices small-scale farming to feed her family and works labor jobs to pay for her daughters' school fees. For two years, Immaculate has had an epigastric hernia, which causes her to experience symptoms of abdominal pain, swelling, coughing, and discomfort when she lifts heavy objects. Fortunately, on June 6th, she will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission (AMH), is requesting $230 to fund Immaculate's surgery. This procedure will allow Immaculate to live more comfortably and confidently moving forward. Immaculate says, "I am all that my children are left with; with such illness, I cannot do much. I appeal for your support to undergo surgery for me to continue caring for my children."

Sochan is a 41-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He lives just outside the capital of Phnom Penh with his wife, daughter, and son. His wife is also a rice farmer, and his daughter recently got a job in a garment factory. Their son is still in school and about to complete 9th grade. In his downtime, Sochan likes to go to the pagoda to pray. In October 2022, Sochan was walking down the street when he was hit in the back of the head by a robber and fell. His phone and cash were stolen. He sustained some injuries from the fall, including a clavicle fracture. His wife took him to a nearby provincial hospital where surgeons fixated hardware to heal the clavicle fracture. Sochan and his wife spent their savings to pay for the procedure. Now, the hardware is no longer serving a purpose and causes him Sochan pain and discomfort in his right shoulder and arm. He is unable to work and worries about the future of his family. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. On June 7th, Sochan will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will cost $304. This procedure will improve his range of motion and eliminate pain. Sochan contributed $100 to his care. He shared, "I don't want to be in pain anymore, and I want to work to support my family."

Khit is a 58 year-old veteran from Ratanakkiri province. He has two daughters, three sons, and five grandchildren. In the late 90s, he badly injured his leg from a land mine, and was discharged from the army. Since then, he has earned a small living as a potato farmer. Sadly, his wife passed away four years ago, and Khit moved in with his youngest daughter, who has taken over their potato farm. At home, he enjoys listening to the radio and spending time with his children and grandchildren. About one year ago, Khit developed a cataract in his left eye--a clouding of the lens of the eye. This causes Khit photophobia (sensitivity to light), itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so is not able to go places on his own. When Khit learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled a long journey for eight and a half hours seeking treatment. On September 6, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $253 procedure. He shared, "I want to see better so I can work on the farm again and help us earn more money for our family."
