Kalu is a brilliant seven-year-old boy from Nepal who excels in school, especially in his favorite subject, Nepali. His parents are farmers, but the land that they own is only sustainable for two months of the year. To maintain the farm and provide for Kalu, his older brother, and grandmother, his parents also perform manual labor on the side.
Recently, while playing, Kalu fell five feet breaking his humerus, the upper arm bone, just above his elbow. He needs surgical treatment, and could suffer a lifelong disability if he doesn’t receive care soon.
