Srey Nich is a 19-year-old student who lives in Phnom Penh with her older brother, who helps support the family by working as an administrative assistant. Her parents are both rice farmers and live in their rural hometown 2 hours away. Srey Nich has just graduated high school, and is preparing to start university. In her free time, she likes checking her social media and going to the library. In 2020, Srey Nich was in a motorbike accident that caused a fracture in her left femur (thigh bone). She went to a local clinic and doctors implanted hardware to heal her fracture. Now, the fracture has healed and the hardware is causing pain and difficulty walking. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner Children's Surgical Centre (CSC) can help. On August 16th, Srey Nich will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will help her walk easily again. She is able to contribute to the cost of the surgery and needs help raising $304 to fully fund the procedure. Srey Nich is hoping to start school without pain in the future.

Kanhchana is a clever 4th grader. She lives in rural Kratie province with her parents and two older brothers. Her mother is a teacher, and her father is a police officer. Her dream is to be a lawyer when she's older. For now, she is busy in school and gets good grades. Before her injury, she liked to jump rope with her friends. On January 23rd, she was playing with her friends when she fell and wounded her ankle. She went to clinic near her house a day later and started taking antibiotics. A few weeks after that, she went to a local referral hospital and had a cast for 20 days, but the wound has still not healed. She experiences pain, wound discharge, and difficulty walking. When Kanhchana's family learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, they traveled for five hours seeking treatment. On April 6th, surgeons at CSC will perform a debridement procedure to remove the damaged and infected tissue from the wound. Now, Kanhchana's family needs help to fund this $324 procedure. After surgery, her family is hopeful that the wound will be able to finally heal and she can grow up healthy, happy, and active.

Norah is a 70 year old small-scale farmer, and mother of five children. One of her two sons is a teacher, while the other is a casual laborer. Her three daughters are married. Currently, Norah and her husband - who suffered a stroke - live with one of their daughters. For the past twenty years, Norah has had troubling symptoms, including a neck swelling. It was never painful, but recently she started experiencing shortness of breath, difficulty in breathing, pain when swallowing, and sweating at night. She was diagnosed with a cystic goiter, and surgery is necessary to prevent her symptoms from getting worse. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Norah receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on April 4th at Karoli Lwanga Hospital, Nyakibale. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland during this procedure, which will cost $252. Norah and her family need your help to raise this money. Norah says: “Surgery is the only hope I am left with to get better. Without your support, I won’t be able to attain it because I don’t have the money needed. I kindly ask you for support.”
