Favour is a young student from Kenya and a very jovial girl. She is in grade six in a Public Primary School. Favour is the last born in a family of 3 siblings, among them is her elder brother and her other sister who attend the Public Secondary School. Her parents are not financially stable but work hard to support their family. Her father makes ballast and her mother washes clothes for her friends to earn a wage. During her mother’s free time, she plants maize and beans for their family to eat. Through the limited wages they get from their hustles, they are able to support the basics for their family.
Favour presented at the hospital with a condition around her toenails on both feet and in a lot of pain. This started a year ago but has gotten worse over time. She is now unable to wear closed toe shoes due to the pain and discomfort it causes, which limits her ability to walk and play as she is used to.
Favour’s family traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On January 31st, surgeons will undertake a procedure to heal her toes so she can be active and out of pain. Now, Favour’s family needs help to raise $529 to fund this treatment.
Favour’s father shared, “I had hoped that the national heath coverage would help us, but that is not the case. Please help my daughter.”
