Sailepu is a seven-year-old boy from Tanzania with a thousand-watt smile. He is the sixth of nine children in his family and is excited to go to school each day. He enjoys playing football as much as he enjoys learning to read and write. His parents support the family with their farm earnings.
Although he is very active, due to burn-scar tissue on his hands and feet, Sailepu does not have good use of his hand and it is difficult for him to wear shoes. His doctors say he will have to lose some toes and a finger in order to regain function, but for Sailepu it’s a small price to pay for the full use of his digits. “My dream is to one day be a professional football player,” says Sailepu.
For $400, we’ll enable Sailepu’s doctors to perform the necessary amputations and help this bright kid realize his dream of becoming a professional football player.
