Kengonzi is a 33-year-old woman from Uganda. She has two children and is currently separated from her husband. Kengonzi has a son and a daughter, and both of her children are in primary school and fully dependent on her. Kengonzi is a farmer, and she cultivates food for home consumption and for sale in order to raise school fees for her children.
For the last four years, Kengonzi has had an epigastric swelling, pain, and a lack of appetite. She has tried using many traditional medicines, but has not noticed any improvement in her condition. Kengonzi’s friend suspected that she was suffering from a hernia and advised her to go to the hospital for check-up. While at the hospital, Kengonzi was diagnosed with an epigastric hernia and advised to have surgery. If not treated, Kengonzi may suffer hernia twisting or blocking.
On September 20, Kengonzi will undergo hernia repair surgery. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requested $249 to fund Kengonzi’s procedure. This will cover the full cost of treatment, including a three-night hospital stay, supplies, surgeon fees, medication, and labs. After surgery, Kengonzi hopes to have peace of mind and resume farming.
