Thi Ha is a 22-year-old wood cutter from Burma. He lives with his family in a rural area. Other members of his household sell charcoal.
In May, Thi Ha was at work and received a call from his mother telling him that she was ill. She asked him to come home and care for her. His motorbike’s front light was broken, but he was concerned about his mother and decided to make the trip despite this risk. Driving quickly to reach his mother, and hindered by the rainy weather, Thi Ha lost control of the bike and fell, hitting his leg on a rock. He called a friend, who came to pick him up. His leg was cut open, and he could not walk. He was referred to our medical partner’s care center, Mae Sot General Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a broken leg and surgery was advised.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to fund Thi Ha’s surgery. He is scheduled for treatment on July 7. After his operation, Thi Ha will be able to walk normally once again.
“I hope to get well soon again to support my mother, who also frequently suffers from illness, and to return to my work, which I really enjoy,” Thi Ha says.
