Ponna is a 63-year-old woman with two daughters, three sons, and many grandchildren. Ponna’s husband is a retired policeman and Ponna sells groceries outside their home. She enjoys looking after her grandchildren and listening to the monks pray on the radio.
Two years ago, Ponna developed a cataract in her right eye, which now makes things hard to recognize and has caused blurry vision and photophobia.
When Ponna learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled there with her son seeking treatment. On March 11th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Ponna said, “I hope after surgery I can see better so I can go outside by myself and do my activities more easily.”
