Koemlin is a 41-year-old construction worker from Cambodia. Sadly, his wife has passed away. He now lives with his mother and daughter. In his free time, Koemlin enjoys exercising, planting vegetables around his home, and listening to music.
One year ago, Koemlin had an ear infection. The infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in his left ear to perforate. As a result, he experiences ear discharge, hearing loss, and ringing in his ear. His condition also makes it difficult for him to communicate clearly with others.
Fortunately, our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), is helping Koemlin receive treatment. On July 12th, he will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in his left ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Now, he needs help raising $487 to cover treatment, supplies, and inpatient care.
Koemlin shares, “I hope my hearing will improve and my ear infection will stop so I can return to work without problems.”

Koemlin underwent ear repair surgery to improve his hearing and alleviate his symptoms.
Koemlin took advice from his neighbor and traveled two and a half hours to Children’s Surgical Centre for treatment. He had successful surgery to repair his perforated eardrum, as his symptoms could have become more serious with permanent hearing loss. After a night in the hospital, he was able to return home. He will use antibiotic drops to decrease any risk of re-infection and return to the hospital in a week for his stitches to be removed.
Because of a successful surgery Koemlin can live more comfortably and has been able to improve his hearing and communication. He hopes to return to work soon and looks forward to eliminating the costs of the medicine he had been using.
Koeemlin said: “I am so grateful that my hearing will return and I won’t have pain or ringing in my ears. I will be able to work to support my family and be useful. Thank you to the staff and the donors who helped me to have this surgery.”
