Kamahari is a 60-year-old farmer from Uganda. She lives with her husband and eight children. Kamahari has a swelling on her left leg that has affected her work performance and quality of life.
Previously, Kamahari sought treatment for the swelling at a hospital, where she was told she would have to undergo surgery. However, she was unable to earn enough money to pay for the procedure.
Having heard of Watsi’s programs with our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF), at Nyakibale Hospital, she decided to seek help. Kamahari was diagnosed with a ganglion cyst and doctors recommend mass excision surgery.
AMHF requests $187 to pay for the operation, an overnight hospital stay, lab tests, medicine, and supplies. She will undergo surgery to excise the cyst on September 12. After the procedure, Kamahari’s discomfort will decrease, and her quality of life will improve.
“I hope to be relived of this condition so I can resume farming,” she shares.
