Kun is a 71-year-old woman from Cambodia. She is married and does not have any children. She enjoys listening to news on the radio and visiting the community pagoda.
About seven months ago, Kun developed cataracts in both of her eyes, leaving her with blurry vision and limited independence. On February 28, Kun will undergo cataract surgery at our medical partner’s care center, Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre. She will receive intraocular implants in each eye, which will enable her to see clearly again.
Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is asking for $292 to cover the cost of her treatment.
After surgery, Kun is looking forward to regaining her independence!

Kun underwent successful eye surgery.
Kun’s treatment went well. Instead of removing a cataract as planned, eye surgeons at CSC decided to first perform a pterygium removal procedure instead. Her eye pterygium was successfully removed from her left eye, and clear vision has been restored. Following the operation, she was given eye drops to reduce inflammation and prevent infection. Kun will return to CSC for a second pterygium removal procedure and a cataract removal procedure.
