Mom is a 61-year-old woman. She is single and has one brother and two sisters. She has retired from her work in a local garment factory and lives with her niece who is a clothes seller. In her free time, she likes to watch comedies on television and listen to the monks pray on the radio.
Five years ago, Mom developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurry vision, tearing, and an unsteady gate. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Mom learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for an hour seeking treatment. On December 7th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Mom shared, “I hope after surgery my eye can see clearly. I want to go outside again, see my family, do housework and take care of my nieces and nephews, too.”
