Stephen is a 50-year-old man from Kenya. He lives with his elderly parents, and sells fruit to neighbors. Stephen also farms his parents’ land. He is the youngest of his siblings.
In August, Stephen was attacked and sustained a complete closed fracture of the left humerus (upper arm bone). This means the bone severed completely but did not break the skin. He went to a hospital where ORIF, or open reduction internal fixation (a surgical method of realigning a severely broken bone), was ordered. If he were to go without treatment, Stephen could be unable to use his left hand.
“Please help me so that I can be able to use my hand again,” says Stephen.
Stephen is scheduled for operation on August 24. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, requests $998 to cover the cost of the procedure.
