Zipora is a 35-year-old farmer living in rural Uganda. To support her family and pay her children’s school fees, Zipora grows and sells a variety of produce, including beans, potatoes, millet, and cassava. In her free time, Zipora enjoys listening to the radio and spending time with her family.
About three months ago, Zipora began feeling abdominal pains and experiencing vaginal bleeding. As her condition worsened, she sought medical treatment at our medical partner’s care center, Bwindi Community Hospital. Doctors diagnosed her with uterine fibroids, which are benign tumors that grow in the uterus and can cause discomfort and bleeding. Doctors recommended that she have surgery to remove the growths and alleviate her symptoms.
Our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, is requesting $1,238 to fund Zipora’s surgery, which will be performed on August 25. Once she has recovered, Zipora hopes to start her own business.
