Samir is 16 years old and lives with his parents, his grandfather, and his siblings in Nepal. He studies in the tenth grade and enjoys playing volleyball and cricket. While his brother works in India to support his family back home, his mother looks after the cattle and farm. The yield from the field supports them for about three months of the year, and for the remainder of the year they buy food from the market.
Because of a hernia, Samir hasn’t been able to go to school for a month now. He cannot sleep well or walk properly. His family took a three-hour walk to bring him to our medical partner, Possible.
“I want to have my treatment soon so that I will be free of pain,” says Samir.
Fortunately, he will have treatment soon. He is scheduled for hernia repair on February 23.
Samir’s family cannot afford this procedure, so Possible is requesting $451 on their behalf. After treatment, Samir will be able to go back to school and be free from his condition.
