Sebastian is a strong 63-year-old man from Uganda. He and his wife both practice small-scale farming. They live together in a three-room permanent house, which they own. They sadly lost their two eldest children. Their youngest is now 18 years old and could not continue schooling past secondary school class two due to having a lack of funding for school fees.
For over two years, Sebastian has dealt with a right inguinal hernia. Over time, this mass has progressively increased in size. It becomes prominent and painful whenever Sebastian does heavy, physical labor, such as farming. Due to financial constraints, he had not been able to visit a health facility for medical treatment. If his condition is not treated, he could suffer strangulation and intestinal obstruction.
Fortunately, Sebastian learned about our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation. On August 9th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Now, AMHF is requesting $170 to fund Sebastian’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
Sebastian says, “I hope to live a normal life once again through surgery so that I may be able to take good care of myself and my family.”
