Sok Nak is a mother of two from Cambodia. She is a seller in the market and loves spending time with her family.
Two years ago, Sok Nak had an ear infection. This infection caused a cholesteatoma, or an abnormal skin growth, to develop in the middle ear behind the ear drum. For this reason, Sok Nak experiences hearing loss, tinnitus, and ear discharge. She is worried about constantly paying for medications, which is very difficult to afford. She’s also concerned that her hearing loss will get worse and worse.
Sok Nak traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On October 9, she will undergo a mastoidectomy procedure in her left ear. During this procedure, ENT surgeons will remove the cholesteatoma. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $842 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care.
Her husband says, “I hope my wife gets better and it’s easier for her to work and be with our family.”
