Sok is a fifth grader from Cambodia. She likes to study science and math. She wants to be a teacher when she grows up. Her favorite drink is milk. She has one brother and one sister.
Three years ago, Sok had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in her left ear to perforate. For this reason, Sok experiences ear discharge and tinnitus. She cannot hear well and is uncomfortable.
Sok traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On September 10, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her left ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care.
Her mother says, “I am worried about my daughter’s hearing. I hope she can feel better soon.”
