Meet Surat, a four-year-old boy from Nepal! “Surat has recently joined school and is just learning to read and write the alphabets. He likes to play with his friends at school,” our medical partner, Possible, tells us.
“Surat fell down from a high courtyard at his home down the slope and fell on his outstretched right arm,” Possible continues. “He developed a painful swelling in his wrist and is unable to move his hand since then” due to a broken right arm.
Since the accident, Surat “can not write and he has missed school since. He can not even perform ordinary activities like brushing teeth, putting clothes on.”
Surat’s five-member family is entirely involved in agriculture for their livelihood, producing just enough to live on. “We do not have enough savings to take him to a hospital in the town as they charge too much. This is the only place where we can get the treatment,” shares Surat’s father.
We can fund a successful treatment for Surat for $205. “Surat will be relieved from the pain and will be able to move his hand again. He will be able to play with his friends,” explains Possible. “More importantly, he will be able to write again and go to school. He will have no long-term disability.” Let’s get Surat back in school and playing with his friends!
