Oun is a grandmother from Cambodia. She likes spending time with her family and going to the Buddhist pagoda.
Five years ago, Oun developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurry vision and itchiness. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Oun learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On October 9, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $398 procedure.
Her daughter says, “I hope my mother can see again.”

Oun underwent cataract removal surgery.
Oun has returned home after a successful operation. As per her doctor’s instructions, she had one eye done, and will need to return in a few weeks to have surgery on the other eye. Surgery has restored vision, so Oun can cook and go about her daily life with improved vision. Her doctor looks forward to seeing her again in a couple weeks.
She says, “I can now leave the house without someone helping me.”
