Say is 76-year-old man who lives by himself in a refugee camp in Thailand. Originally from Burma, he moved to the refugee camp in 2010 when he was assigned to work there as a pastor. During his free time, he loves to sing songs and read the Bible.
Since 2019, Say has suffered from pain and swelling in his groin area. For two years, he never sought help from the hospital in the camp because he was shy about his condition. However, at the end of June 2021, Say experienced severe pain and swelling in the left groin and visited the camp hospital for an examination. He was diagnosed with an inguinal hernia and surgery is recommended.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF), is helping Say receive treatment. On July 7th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at BCMF’s care center and now, he needs help to fund this $1,486 procedure.
Say shared, “I hope that I will feel like before [when I was healthy] after surgery, without having to live with pain. I want to be healthy so that I can preach, serve God and strengthen people’s beliefs in our community.”
