Demiano is a 57-year-old man from Uganda. He is farmer who grows maize, cassava, groundnuts, millet, potatoes, and rice for food. He sells the surplus crops to support his family and school fees for his children. In his free time, Demiano enjoys listening to the radio, visiting friends and relatives, grazing his goats, and playing with his children.
For the last six years, Demiano has experienced pain, but his pain has become much more severe in the last month. The doctor diagnosed him with a right inguinal hernia and recommended that Demiano undergo surgery.
On September 4, Demiano will undergo a hernia repair procedure. Our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, has requested $229 to fund Demiano’s procedure. This will cover the full cost of treatment, including a five-night hospital stay, labs, medication, supplies, and physician time. After treatment, Demiano looks forward to starting a business to support his family and children’s school fees.
