Doung is a 79-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She has two sons and five grandchildren. Her favorite activities include listening to the monks pray on the radio, and visiting the local pagoda.
Five months ago, Doung developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Doung learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for four and a half hours seeking treatment. On March 9th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
“I hope that I will be able to see better and can recognize things, and be able to go outside easily,” Doung hoped.
