Trom is a 63-year-old farmer from Cambodia. She is married and has three sons, one daughter, and eight grandchildren. In her free time, Trom likes to go to the pagoda and listen to the monks pray.
About five years ago, Trom began to develop pterygiums, benign growths of tissue, in her eyes. Because of her eye condition, she experiences blurred vision, burning, and irritation. She has difficulty seeing clearly, and she now worries her eye condition will worsen.
Trom learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), from her brother. She traveled three hours with her daughter to reach CSC for treatment. On April 3, surgeons will remove the pterygium from each of her eyes. After recovery, Trom will be able to see clearly again. CSC is requesting $148 to fund this procedure.
